Fingerprint Information

There are many ways to capture a fingerprint.  Don't fret.  You can find supplies at your local stores.  Here are some suggestions on methods to capture a fingerprint.  We can work with just about any medium to create your keepsake.

1.  Inked fingerprint.  Your local police station may be able to take a print.  Ask the coroner if they can take the fingerprints.  You can also get a craft ink pad and take the prints on white paper.  Don't worry about the quality of the fingerprint.  We can clean up the prints for your keepsake.

2.  Mold fingerprints.  Dental impression material or ear mold impression material works great.  You can also use Play-Doh, Crayola Modeling Clay, Fimo clay, Sculptey clay or other clay materials.  If using Play-Doh, close the container so it does not dry out.

We suggest you take multiple fingerprints.  Take the specific fingerprint that you would like.  If no specific fingerprint is wanted, look at each finger and take the print of the best one.

For children, the thumbs may be more defined than other fingers.  For babies, we suggest you take a full impression or ink print of the hands and feet.  If you have time to order a kit, we ship them via USPS Priority Mail or by FedEx Overnight and 2-Day service.
